I love Rudy’s. It is average bbq at an average price. The people are great, the atmosphere is great. Do not expect 5 star bbq, and you will not be disappointed. This place is 5 stars, at being a 3 star place, at 3 star prices. Glad to have them Midland. Need places that are just decent, and semi affordable.

This was our first visit to a Rudy's. I will say it is a step above dickeys. Just the fact that they have prime rib is great. The prime rib was pretty decent. The sausage was better than I expected. The brisket isn't the best. The line was out the door but moved quickly. I will definitely be back.

I love this place. It is a cafeteria style barbecue place. Food was wonderful. I told the person helping me this is my first time, and she was very, very patient and explained the entire menu in process. And actually, it's pretty reasonable for a barbecue place. 1/2 lb of Brisquef is only $9.95. I would highly recommend this place. And I cannot wait to go back again.

The brisket and egg tacos are really good and a solid price. We also went for dinner last night and it was really busy but they moved pretty quickly and were really nice. We had someone stop by our table a couple times to check in. All food was solid, but our favorite was the sausage. Glad they opened this location in Midland.

I ate at Rudy’s in college (College Station), and so I know what to expect. The brisket was not good - sucks. If you want that, go somewhere else. Everything except for the brisket is good here! Love the atmosphere, no-nonsense setup, the staff is awesome. Good turkey and sausage and the sauce - so good. They were also out of buttermilk pie - annoying but I am not docking them for it.

Rudy’s 'Country Store' and Bar-B-Q in Midland offers a straightforward take on Texas barbecue that hits the right notes for anyone looking for solid flavors without pretense. Located conveniently on Loop 250 Frontage Rd, this spot serves up classic smoked meats in a cafeteria-style setting that feels welcoming and unpretentious.

What stands out immediately is their lineup of smoked favorites. The sausage earns consistent praise for its bold, well-seasoned profile, often stealing the show alongside other staples. The prime rib, a somewhat rare find on barbecue menus, adds a hearty, satisfying option for those wanting to go beyond the usual brisket and ribs. Customers appreciate its decent quality balanced with reasonable pricing.

Speaking of brisket, it’s clear Rudy’s brisket is a divisive element. While some find it falls short of top-tier barbecue establishments, others admit it fits comfortably as a consistent, “just right” option—a reliable classic rather than a standout. This humility defines Rudy’s charm: they do not strive for gourmet perfection but deliver casual, flavorful barbecue that satisfies the craving without breaking the bank.

The atmosphere supports this no-nonsense approach. Friendly staff make the experience pleasant, guiding first-timers through the menu with patience and care. Lines can form during busy hours, a testament to the place’s popularity, but service remains efficient without sacrificing hospitality. It’s a community spot where the warmth of the people rivals the warmth of the smoked meats.

Pricing is another highlight, with generous portions like a half-pound of brisket priced around $9.95—making it accessible for everyday visits. The brisket and egg tacos also offer great value and solid taste, showing that Rudy’s knows how to balance quality with affordability.

In sum, Rudy's 'Country Store' and Bar-B-Q is a dependable Midland barbecue stop. It embraces its role as an honest, affordable pit stop in Texas barbecue culture, delivering comfort food that hits the mark without fuss. For those seeking a welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, and satisfying smoked meats—especially standout sausage and prime rib—Rudy’s comes highly recommended.
